Doris Stauffer: A Monograph

Doris Stauffer Monograph Cover

Research project on feminist artist and activist Doris Stauffer, culminating in an exhibition and monograph. In close collaboration with the artist, Simone Koller and Mara Züst compiled the first monograph on this important pioneer of experimental art education in Switzerland.

A wealth of original documents, including teaching materials, diaries, published texts, and an extensive collection of letters, were used to trace her work through a richly illustrated text collage, supplemented by new commentary.

‘The book depicts the urgency of the ’60s and ’70s, but it also provides intimate insights without being voyeuristic.’ (WOZ, 27.8.2015).

With texts by Mara Züst, Michael Hiltbrunner, Simone Koller, Andrea Thal and Kay Turner. Edited by Mara Züst and Simone Koller. Published by Scheidegger & Spiess.

The research project originated through a workshop at Bibliothek Andreas Züst, in which Doris Stauffer spoke about her work and eventful life, followed by numerous meetings at her home.
